How To Guide: Adding Fees

Key debt recovery fees in the UK include:

Statutory interest (base rate + 8%), Fixed late payment compensation (£40–£100), Court issue fees (up to 5% of claim value), and solicitor costs. Enforcement fees include compliance (£75) and enforcement stage fees (e.g., £190+), often added to the debt.

Some fees can be added manually to each case and other fees such as Statutory interests are done automatically, Late Payment Fees are added automatically upon case creation into the Collections Cloud platform, the Workflow will take care of the basic/main fees so let’s review what fees can be added manually.

Let’s review how the workflow automatically adds fees to a Case.

First, we need to use the side menu to locate the Case Management page.

Tip: You can search for specific Cases using the search engines or pick a case using the “All Cases” List inside the Case Management page.

We have selected a Case to work with, so let’s review how the workflow adds fees automatically to a case.

As we can see in these Case Details, the original balance owed was £3,500.00 and the current balance owed is £3,570.00 Collections Clouds workflow automatically adds the Late payment Fee upon case creation.

Late Payment Fee amount can vary depending on the original amount owed.

If Original balance is £0-999.99 – late payment fee of £40.

If Original balance is £1000-9999.99 – Add late payment fee of £70.

If Original balance is over £10k – Add late payment fee of £100.

Adding a fee:
Additional Visit Fees / Agent fees / Other fees can be added manually through the “Add Fee” button located on the Financial History section.

When clicked. This feature will open a popup with the Case Details displayed at the top of the form and an “Add Fee” section at the bottom of the popup.

Fee type:

  • Additional Visit Fee: An “additional visit fee” is a charge added to your debtors current balance owed when a field agent or bailiff visits their home.

  • Agent Fee: An agent fee in UK debt collection is a charge for hiring external specialists (agents) to perform specific tasks.

  • Other: Legal actions incur court fees, solicitor costs etc
if this option is selected a description of the fee can be added to the case.

(Note: Sample image of fee Type: “Other” & “description” of fee).

Last steps:

Now we have selected the date for when the fee had been charged to a case and the amount of the fee in £.

Reviewing case details and how to find fees added:

The Financial History section will always display the latest financially related movements such as. Payments made or fees/interest added.

We can also see that the Current balance owed has updated on the Case details box.
